Stan Walker is an Australian-New Zealand recording artist, actor, and television personality. He won the ninth and final season of the show Australian Idol, in 2009.

Stan was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, the son of April and Ross Walker, and grew up in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. He is of Māori descent, from the Tuhoe and Ngati Tuwharetoa tribes in New Zealand.

Stan is a Christian.

He has said:

I’m so proud of who I am and where I come from. Every chance I can get, I always try to get my Maori thing in there and make known to the world who and what I am. Were really proud people. I’m so blessed to be in such a strong culture. Anything I can be a part of back home (our Maori, our language) I’m all for it, man.

    oh he is maori goodness sake,reason been why english surnames were taken was due to the pakehas, they couldnt pronounce them lol
