Simon Helberg is an American actor, comedian, and musician. He is the son of Harriet, a casting director, and Sandy Helberg, an actor.

Simon was raised initially in Conservative Judaism, and later in Reform Judaism. He had a Bar Mitzvah ceremony.

Simon’s father was born in Frankfurt, Allied-occupied Germany, to parents who were Holocaust survivors.

Simon is married to Jocelyn Towne, an actress, producer, and director, whose uncle (father’s brother) is screenwriter Robert Towne (who is also Jewish). The couple has two children.

Simon’s paternal grandfather was Sam/Samuel/Shmuel Helberg (the son of Moszek/Moses Pinkus Helberg and Rose Rachel/Ruchla Lask). Sam was born in Będzin, Silesia, Poland. Moshe was the son of Dawid Helberg.

Simon’s paternal grandmother was Tonya/Tonia/Tova Altman (the daughter of Shmuel/Szmul Altman and Tauba Kiwkowicz). Tonya was born in Będzin, Silesia.
