Shane’s paternal grandfather was Norman John Harper (the son of Raymond/Ray Harper and Marion/Marian Muir Fowlds). Norman was born in Michigan. Raymond was the son of John D. Harper and Lillian Virena Scroggins. Marion was born in Crookedholm, Ayrshire, Scotland, the daughter of Herman Allan Fowlds and Martha Baird/Beard/Biard.
Shane’s paternal grandmother was Shirley Jean Schiebenger (the daughter of John Schiebinger and Amanda Christiana Schaefer). Shirley was born in Nebraska. John was born in Kitzladen, Austria. Amanda was born in South Dakota, to German parents from Bessarabia, John Michael Schaefer and Christina Doering.

I believe Bernard Michaelson was the son of Michael Michaelson (1895) and Jennie Falkowsky (1897). If correct Jennie was the daughter of William Wolf Falkowsky (1859) and Ida Leventhal (1861) both Russian Jewish.

Follers I read the caption and curious is his Jewish roots traceable and if so from which side of his family?
I don’t know where his Jewish ancestry may be from.
Not trying to sound cynical but is there any chance he is lying about his ethnicity? Only asking because a lot of celebrities claim certain things (usually Native American ancestry) but sometimes other ethnicities they don’t actually have.

I now see that Harper’s grandfather was named Bernard Michaelson and was from New York, so he was almost certainly Jewish. All the potential matches I can see were Jewish.

Shane has English ancestry through at least his maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Louise Trout. Margaret’s great-great-grandfather, William Atkins, was born in England, and given some of the other surnames on that side of Shane’s family, I’m sure he has other English roots if I looked into them (and probably on his father’s side, as well, given his surname Harper).
A lot of Americans seem unaware of their English ancestry.
Shane is also a distant cousin of President Lyndon Johnson, as you can see, through their German ancestry.
