Sean is the son of Debra Lynn (Tyson) and Benson O. “Ben” Malto. Sean’s father is of Filipino descent. Sean’s mother is mostly of English, German, and Irish ancestry.

Sean’s maternal grandfather was Willie Tyson (the son of Alfred Joel Tyson and Faye/Fay Stewart). Alfred was the son of Fred Tyson and Hallie Belle Briley. Faye was the daughter of Ralph W. Stewart and Stella M. Holey.

Sean’s maternal grandmother was Ellen Jean Cornett (the daughter of John Robert Cornett and Laura Irene Rodenburg). Laura was the daughter of Christian F. Rodenburg, whose parents were German, and of Laura Emma Klingler, whose parents were also German.
