Roy Moore is an American lawyer, politician, and former judge. A Republican, he was Judge for the Sixteenth Circuit Court of Alabama, from November 6, 1992 to November 7, 2000, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama, from January 15, 2001 to November 13, 2003, and again, from January 15, 2013 to April 26, 2017.

He was, to some degree, a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2012.

Roy is the son of Evelyn and Roy Baxter Moore. He is married to Kayla Kisor, with whom he has four children. Kayla is the President of the Foundation for Moral Law, which Roy founded.

Roy’s paternal grandfather was named Michael Joseph Moore.

Roy’s paternal grandmother was Clara Lee Ennis Wilson (the daughter of William Leander Wilson and Mary Mandy Adeline Collins). William was the son of Thomas Wilson and Mary Johnson.

Roy’s maternal grandfather was Winfred Glenn Stewart (the son of David Stewart and Ida Jane Fletcher). Winfred was born in Pennsylvania. David was the son of Isaac Jacob Stewart and Elizabeth Ann Edwards, who was from Wales. Ida was the daughter of William Fletcher and Sarah Ann Turner.

Roy’s maternal grandmother was Antonia Barbara Kargle (the daughter of George Kargle and Rose Starale Schmidenhofer). Antonia was born in Pennsylvania, to German parents.
