Ron Wyden is an American politician. A Democrat, he has served as a U.S. Senator from Oregon, since February 6, 1996. He was previously a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Oregon, from January 3, 1981 to February 5, 1996.

Ron is the son of Edith (Rosenow) and Peter H. Wyden (born Peter Weidenreich), a journalist and writer. Peter was born in Berlin, Germany, and came to the U.S. in 1937, because of the Nazi regime. Edith’s family was also from Germany. Ron is married to Nancy (Bass). He has two children with his former wife Laurie (Oseran); and three children with Nancy.

Ron’s paternal grandfather was Erich Weidenreich (the son of Karl/Carl Weil-Weidenreich and Friederike Edesheimer). Erich was a businessperson. Karl was the son of Jacob Weidenreich-Weyl and Julie Bär. Friederike was the daughter of Michael Edesheimer and Fanny Wolf.

Ron’s paternal grandmother was named Helene/Helen Silberstein. Helene was a concert singer.

Ron’s maternal grandfather was Georg Rosenow (the son of Leopold Rosenow and Auguste Leon). Georg was born in Berlin, to a family from Brodnica, Brodnica County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, between Germany and Poland.

Ron’s maternal grandmother was Else Weile (the daughter of Salomon Samuel Weile and Fanny Machol). Else was born in Berlin, also to a family from Pomerania. Salomon was born in Schlochau, the son of Salomon Weile and Ernestine Hirschmeyer. Fanny was the daughter of Israel Machol and Ernestine Kirstein.
