He is half Polish half russian ! And Polanski is Polański in Polish. It isn’t Polan-ski xd His mother was russian his father was polish. Roman Polański was born in France.

In an interwied I saw once: He stated that he was Jewish.
They only changed his surname to a Slavic for awhile to not get spotted by the nazis.
Kinda dumb really, since the nazist didn’t think it was hard to spot a Jew.
As it is if you’re intrested, I for one can see directly what ethnicity many people belong to.

The film director was born in France to a Jewish Father from Poland and a Catholic Polish mother. His mother was born to a Jewish father and a Catholic mother in Russia.
This is confusing… So his father was Jewish, he grew up in Poland and his mother was a Russian Jew? What’s with the “Catholic” then?
So to sumon everything up, his father was Jewish and his mother too. One grew up on Poland the other one in Russia?

Actually he was not born in Poland, he was born in Paris, France. And his real last name is not Polanski, his real last name is Liebling. His father changed the family’s surname from Liebling (a Jewish surname) to Polanski (a Polish surname) in 1932.
