Ray has described himself as being Native American. It is not clear if this Native American ancestry has been verified/documented.

Various claims have been made that Ray is of Indian (from India) descent, though he has clearly stated that he is not. In this clip, Ray talks about his father, soon after he had passed away.

Ray’s paternal grandfather was Howard Rodgers Johnson (the son of Howard O. Johnson and Flossie Ellen Rodgers). Ray’s grandfather Howard was born in Konawa, Oklahoma. Ray’s great-grandfather Howard was the son of James Thomas “Tom” Johnson and Martha Lee “Mattie” Jones. Flossie was the daughter of David R. Rodgers/Rogers and Nannie Belle Laney.

Ray’s maternal grandfather was Earl William Robbins (the son of William Henry Robbins and Anna Marie Kusil). Earl was born in Oklahoma. Ray’s great-grandfather William was the son of Willis Robbins and Annie Elizabeth Carter. Anna was born in Ohio, the daughter of Mathias/Matyas “Mats” Kusil and Katherine/Katie Bittinger, who were born in Hungary, of ethnic German descent.

Ray’s maternal grandmother is Dixie Raye Gazaway (the daughter of Odell Don Gazaway and Clara Lona Gordon). Odell was the son of Albert Gazaway and Maggie L. Whitt. Clara was the daughter of Charlie/Charley Brown Gordon and Lona Caroline Pannell.

Also source the video and change where it mentions Native American to “he has mentioned himself as being of Native American descent”

    Tag “Banat Swabian”

Ray William Johnson needs to check the tribes in OK he believes to descended from. IDK about paper genocide has occurred in his case like blood quantum and possibly Black/African American ancestry. He said bios stated he’s “East Indian”, but he said that’s false (this also happened in Mandy Moore’s bio). I can name another celeb who claims Cherokee ancestry had his legal first name “Wonga” and he’s Phil Harris – someone should include him on ethnicelebs, cus he’s a 20th century celebrity – about his “Native” roots in TN, but he was originally from IN.

  4. Thenabster says:

I believe his paternal grandfather was Native

  5. Thenabster says:

Can we at least say in the bio that he claims Native descent but records seemingly prove otherwise?
