Phil Scott is an American politician, businessperson, and stock car racer. A Republican, he has been Governor of Vermont, since January 5, 2017. He was previously Lieutenant Governor of Vermont, from January 6, 2011 to January 5, 2017, among other duties.

Phil is the son of Marian (DuBois) and Howard Roy Scott. He is married to Diana McTeague, and has two children.

Phil’s paternal grandfather was Roy John Scott (the son of William J. Scott and Ida J. Lyman). Roy was born in Illinois.

Phil’s paternal grandmother was Mable/Mabel Idelle McRae (the daughter of Alexander McRae and Gertie Lucy Farnham). Mable was born in Vermont. Gertie was the daughter of George Washington Farnham and Lucy C. Magoon.
