Paolo Gentiloni is an Italian politician. He served as Prime Minister of Italy, from 12 December, 2016 to 1 June, 2018. He has been a Member of the Chamber of Deputies, since 30 May, 2001, and was previously Minister of Communications, from 17 May, 2006 to 8 May, 2008, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, from 31 October, 2014 to 12 December, 2016.
His father, Carlo Alberto Gentiloni Silveri, was a lawyer. His mother, Maria Berica Venturini, was Venetian. He is married to architect Emanuela Mauro. He is related to Count Ottorino Gentiloni, a politician who is known for the “Gentiloni pact.”
Paolo’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his third great-grandfather, Niccolò Gentiloni.
Paolo’s paternal grandfather was Stefano Domenico Picho Ignazio Carlo Gentiloni Silveri (the son of Aristide Gentiloni, later Gentiloni Silveri, and of Adele Silveri). Aristide was the son of Nemesio Gentiloni and Floriana Morlacchi. Adele was the daughter of Domenico Silveri and Teresa Pelagallo.
