Pablo Iglesias Turrión is a Spanish politician. He has been the Secretary General of Podemos, since 15 November, 2014. He is also a member of the Congress of Deputies, since 13 January, 2016. He was previously a member of the European Parliament, from 1 July, 2014 to 27 October, 2015.

Pablo was named after the “father” of Spanish socialism, Paulino “Pablo” Iglesias Posse.

Pablo’s father, Francisco Javier Iglesias Peláez, is a labor inspector and retired history professor. Pablo’s mother, María Luisa Turrión Santa María, is a lawyer for the trade union Workers’ Commissions (CCOO).

Pablo’s paternal grandfather was Manuel Benito Iglesias Ramírez (the son of Alberto Iglesias López and María del Carmen Ramírez López). Alberto was the son of Venancio Iglesias de la Cruz and Donata López Colmano. Carmen was the daughter of José Ramírez Lechón and Brígida Gómez Cancillo.

Pablo’s paternal grandmother was María Dolores Peláez Zapater (the daughter of José Luis Peláez de Alarcón and María Antonia Zapater Ramírez). José was the son of José Peláez Rodríguez and Joaquina de Alarcón Roquier.

Pablo’s maternal grandparents were Manuel Turrión and a woman surnamed Santa María Torremocha.
