Nick Schenk is an American screenwriter. He has written the films Gran Torino and The Mule, and co-written the films The Judge (2014), Cry Macho, and A Christmas Story Christmas. He has also written for the shows Narcos, Harley and the Davidsons, and Manhunt.

He was raised in Fridley, Minnesota, near Minneaplis.

Nick’s paternal grandfather was Walter Emil George Schenk (the son of Emil Schenk and Louisa Warter). Walter was born in Illinois. Emil was born in Haemiken, Switzerland. Louisa was born in New York, to parents from Germany, with her father being Mathias Warter.

Nick’s paternal grandmother was Luella/Louella Bobendrier (the daughter of John Henry Bobendrier/Bobendier and Mary Louisa Brier). Luella was born in Minnesota. John was born in Minnesota, to German parents, Albert Bobendrier and Minnie Jansen. Mary Louisa was born in Minnesota, to French-Canadian parents from Québec, Isadore J. Briere and Victoria M. Dussault.
