What is it with the whole, getting mad over ‘black’ people apparently dismissing their heritage? Apparently trying to look a nicer mix by lying? Is this just a typical American accusation or what? (I live in the UK, where naturally people are just as prejudice and ignorant, ..’confused’ as people seem by comments on this ‘site also, but not sure that i’d heard people accusing mixed race people who are predominatly black, of lying about being mixed race..)
His Grandfather was chinese on his mothers side? Assuming the Grandma is ‘black’ (i wont bother specifying) this would make his mother, mixed, Black(?) and Chinese.
More information on both his parents heritage would be better, but theoretically that would be right.
Think of it in a Maths sense, using fractions.
You are half of each of your parents DNA.. Half of your mother, half of your father. Therefore you will recieve half the heritage of each. If your parents have some of the same background, you add both halves together.
For example, M(Mother) F(Father)
M=1/2 Italian, 1/2Scottish (/2) + F=1/2 Italian, 1/2Spanish (/2) = Baby, 1/2 Italian, 1/4 Scottish, 1/4 Spanish
This is because you take half of each gene.. The child of this product would be half of the half Italian of the mother, which would make a quarter, then the same for the other.. Therefore they are 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4 …Which is a half.

if you go back enough, almost everyone is part chinese, white, black, etc.
5,000 years ago people were moving around to different countries.
almost all blacks in america are part white. and most whites are part black. even pale white people have a few percent black genes. probably native american genes too. and chinese and hispanic. or even from 5,000 years back.
so someone might say “i’m 100% irish.” but that is almost never true. 3,000 years back, that person probably had several black, chinese, german, arab, jewish ancestors.
