I’m from Barbados and am fully African-Caribbean. My hair has always been super-resistant to any attempts at curling, twisting everything. (think seal pelt). In fact my friends always assumed that I relaxed my hair. One day my older sister and I were on the bus when a woman got on. We both exclaimed “Hello Mum!” at the same time. She looked at us blankly and we realised she was fully Chinese. Bit embarrassing on all sides. I’d always blamed some white colonial ancestor for my hair, but that day I think we discovered where the culprit genes really lay. I’m beginning to suspect that the Chinese nation has been round the planet a lot more than the rest of us ;)

Hm, I have a little similar experience. Except it’s usually other ppl mistaking me for hispanic when I’m chinese, lol. I can’t tell you the number of times someone thinks I’m hispanic, and they walk right up to me and start asking me something in spanish. It’s really awkward because then I don’t know what to say. I’m not really offended by what other people see in me, but it does make me question if somewhere down the line in my family we’re a little mixed. as far as I know, my most recent ancestors (up to back three generations) are all chinese, or at least on my father’s side I am. my mother’s side prior to her grandparents I’m really not so sure about…

why can”t she have chinse in her because she is to black and yes plain black people can have those eyes because we are all linked by dna even though a lot of people dont think so. I am half trinidadian spanish and indian my mother my father black southerner but if you look at my son you would think so because his father is dark but it call resessive genes you never know when you have the mix no matter how far back it goes

She’s never met him but knows so much about his background. Yeah, right. She’s a notorious fibber. A Chinese woman in Jamaica back then is a bit of a stretch. She’s probably part NA but really doesn’t know what she is. She’s full of it.

I think you should actually check things out first, because chinese people have been coming to the West Indies for over 200yrs.As slaves, replacment workers, just to live etc.So there’s no stretch to her being part chinese

She does kinda of look chinese, not alot, but hey, look at Tiger Woods. No one’s fully black, white, mexican, asian, arabic, native american, or whatever you are anyways. The world’s like a freakin’ bag of skittles.

To Me

You will have to deal with this,a large part of whites are not pure. There has been mixing since pale skin came along. Also Asians have been mixing, and black people in Africa have been to,with Asian and white for a long time now.All you have to do is look it up.

@alive: if you’ve seen my numerous posts in this site, you could know that i’m the very last one to stick an ethnicity to someone just by looking. I don’t say that naomi can’t be part asian because she’s dark skinned, i just explain how media can manipulate ppl, insisting in her hypothetic non black side, but the real message through this statement is like: you can’t be considered one of the most beautiful woman in the world(or be successful) if you are totally black. You have to be at least part non black if you want to succed in life or just be respected. With that, why wouldn’t black ppl claim their 10% of this or 5% of that, just in order to escape the blackness. It’s so sad, im very glad to hear black celebs who say they’re black, because blackness never equal uglyness.

first of it doesn’t matter if she’s dark skinned, like im dark skinned but im not fully black im black Irish, German , Indian, and Cherokee native american. Just like shes black and Chinese but she’s from London just because she’s dark skinned don’t mean she can’t be from England dumb, and I know plenty of ppl that are Asian and black white and black Spanish and black Jamaican and Spanish ik lots of ppl that are dark or light and aren’t actually the race you think they are and also like Dominicans that look black but they parent so just because she dark don’t mean shes not any othe race or ethincity

Sorry I don’t recall Naomi saying that she wasn’t black! She is part Chinese – why is that such a problem? She has also stated her ancestry in newspapers. But did she say she was mixed race? No. I don’t get the problem. Why is it okay for a light skinned person to say that they are a quarter this or that, but oh no if a dark skinned person says they are – they want to deny their blackness? Naomi got where she is being black! I didn’t see them trying to make her any lighter in pics like a lot of celebs do.
