Myrna was the daughter of Adelle/Della Mae (Johnson) and David Franklin Williams, a rancher. She was raised in Radersburg, in a rural area, before moving to Los Angeles, California, with her mother.

Myrna’s paternal grandfather was named David Thomas Williams. David was born in Glamorgan, Wales.
