Misty Upham was a Native American actress. She is known for her roles in the films Skins (2002), Expiration Date, Frozen River, The Dry Land, Django Unchained, Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian, August: Osage County, Cake (2014), and Within (2015), on the shows Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and Big Love, and in the made-for-tv movie Skinwalkers (2002).

Misty was born in Kalispell, Montana, the daughter of Mona and Charles Upham. She was raised in the Blackfeet Reservation between Montana and Washington. Her parents are pictured here.

Misty’s maternal grandmother was Alfreda White Grass (the daughter of James White Grass and Amy Ground). Alfreda was born in Montana. James was the son of Shorty White Grass and Daisey Smoked Finger. Amy was the daughter of John Ground and Mary Guardipee.

    Put Piegan Blackfeet in the header. They’re part of the broader Blackfoot Confederacy, so leave Blackfoot in the tags.

    Mary Guardipee was only 1/4 native according to the rolls, but I don’t know what her other ancestry was.
