Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat, is the wife of Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, the heir apparent to the Danish throne.

She is the daughter of Scottish emigrants, Henrietta Clark “Etta” (Horne) and mathematics professor John Dalgleish Donaldson, both of Port Seton. She has four children with Prince Frederik, Prince Christian of Denmark, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine. Raised a Presbyterian, she became a Lutheran upon marrying Prince Frederik.

Mary’s paternal grandfather was Peter Donaldson (the son of Alexander Donaldson and Jean Stevenson). Peter was born in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. Alexander was the son of Peter Donaldson and Annie Horn. Jean was the daughter of John Stevenson and Roy Ritchie.

Mary’s paternal grandmother was Mary Dalgleish (the daughter of John Dalgleish and Barbara McDonald Baisley). Mary’s grandmother Mary was born in Scotland. John was the son of Charles Dalgleish and Jane Hay. Barbara was the daughter of Andrew Baisley and Jessie Sutherland.
