Martha McSally is an American politician and U.S. Air Force combat veteran. A Republican, she was a U.S. Senator from Arizona, from January 3, 2019 to December 2, 2020. She was previously a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona, from January 3, 2015 to January 3, 2019.

She is the daughter of Eleanor, a reading specialist, and Bernard McSally, a lawyer.

Martha’s paternal grandfather was named Bernard Francis McSally (the son of Gerthilde McSally and Mary A.). Bernard was born in New York, to Irish parents.
