Mario Draghi is an Italian economist, manager, and banker. He has served as Prime Minister of Italy, from 13 February, 2021 to 22 October, 2022. He has also been Governor of the Bank of Italy, from 16 January, 2006 to 31 October, 2011, Chair of the Financial Stability Board, from 2 April, 2009 to 4 November, 2011, and President of the European Central Bank, from 1 November, 2011 to 31 October 2019.
Mario is the son of Ermenegilda “Gilda” Mancini, a pharmacist, and Carlo Draghi, who worked for the Institute for Industrial Reconstruction and the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro. His father was from Padua, Veneto, and his mother was from Monteverde, Province of Avellino, Campania. He is married to Serena, and has two children, including financier Giacomo Draghi.
His mother’s name is wrong. She was named Ermenegilda “Gilda” Mancini.
