Marine Le Pen is a French lawyer and politician. She was President of the National Rally, a right-wing to far-right political party in France, from 16 January, 2011 to 13 September, 2021. She has been a Member of the National Assembly, since 18 June, 2017, and was previously a Member of the European Parliament, from 20 July, 2004 to 18 June, 2017. She was a candidate for President of France in 2012, 2017, and 2022.

Marine is the daughter of Pierrette Lalanne and politician Jean-Marie Le Pen, who was President of the National Front, from 5 October, 1972 to 15 January, 2011, and the FN’s candidate for President of France in 1974, 1988, 1995, 2002, and 2007. She succeeded him as leader of the party, since renamed. Her father was born in La Trinité-sur-Mer, Brittany, France. Her niece is politician Marion Maréchal, who was a Member of the National Assembly, from 20 June, 2012 to 20 June, 2017.

Marine’s paternal grandfather was Jean Marie Le Pen (the son of Pierre Le Pen and Marie Hubert). Marine’s grandfather Jean Marie was born in La Trinité-sur-Mer. Pierre was the son of Pierre Marie Le Pen and Jacquette/Jacqueline Moroch. Marine’s great-grandmother Marie was the daughter of Jean Hubert and Mathurine Hellegouarch.

Marine’s paternal grandmother was Anne Marie Madeleine Vincente Hervé (the daughter of Vincent Marie Hervé and Marie Vincente Robert). Marine’s grandmother Anne Marie was born in Locmariaquer, Morbihan, Brittany. Marine’s great-grandfather Vincent was the son of Charles Hervé and Marie Michelle Stéphant. Marine’s great-grandmother Marie Vincente was the daughter of Louise Robert and Françoise Le Fay.

    She’s vilified for simply trying to preserve her country & its glorious culture despite all the attacks it’s experienced. Btw, I’m a black person who fully supports Le Pen & hope she becomes French president. France has a glorious history & culture which needs to be preserved

    She was a candidate in the 2012 French presidential election. Her father was a candidate in 2002.

    She is the aunt of politician Marion Maréchal-Le Pen.

    It turns out that she is the great-granddaughter of a Maltese woman who lived in Alexandria (Egypt), through her mother Pierrette Lalanne.

    CORRECTION: Her father has Breton ancestry. The Bretons are a distinct ethnic group from the French, and should be added to her ethnicity.
