I think Mariah identifies with all her ancestries. Mariah explained why she classifies herself as black is because of the one drop rule in America. She said she suffered racism when she was young. So I do understand where Mariah is coming from. Alot of African Americans have mixed ancestry but they feel disconnected from the white side due to history and discrimination. I have Irish ethnicity and I’m very proud that Mariah has Irish descent also people like Ali and Barack Obama. I hope we move on from the past and people can claim all their ethnicities with pride. Can we move on and heal from the past?

I am bi racial, white/ black. People say I look Hispanic, and say there is no way I am half black…………….i tell them, and it is a easy concept to understand; first I am who I am and it shouldn’t matter to anyone. second, if two siblings had the same mother and father, one was white and one was black……..one could have took on the white gene and the other the black gene, so it all depends what genes were passed on. and last…………….does it really matter when we bleed we all bleed red.

Being of latin looks, does not necessarily mean being from spain. there are many european countries (spain, portugal, France, Italy, etc..) with latin origins, but it is a fact, that in the US, being latino means being south american, rather than spanish (european).
