María Teresa Fernández de la Vega is a Spanish politician, from the Spanish Socialist Worker’s Party (PSOE). She is the President of the Spanish Council of State. From 18 April, 2004 to 20 October, 2010, she was the first deputy prime minister, minister of the Presidency and cabinet spokesperson in the government of Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

María Teresa is the daughter of Wenceslao Fernández de la Vega y Lombán, born in Vegadeo, Asturias, and Elena Sanz Reig, born in Játiva, Valencian Community.

Maria Teresa’s paternal grandfather was Wenceslao Fernández de la Vega y Pasarín (the son of José Fernández de la Vega and Generosa Pasarín). He was born in Lugo, Galicia.

María Teresa’s paternal grandmother was María de los Dolores Lombán/Lombao Cotarelo.
