Maiara Walsh (born February 18, 1988) is a Brazilian American actress known for playing Ana Solis on the sixth season of the hit ABC show, Desperate Housewives, and as Meena Paroom on the Disney Channel sitcom Cory in the House.

Walsh was born in Washington State to a Brazilian mother and an Irish/German/Swedish American father. She speaks fluent Portuguese and she is proficient in Spanish. Maiara and her family moved to São Paulo, Brazil when she was two years old. At 11 she moved to Simi Valley, California to pursue her acting career.

Walsh is really, really common around here, in Ireland. I can assure you it’s an Irish name. I have two friends with the surname, and know tonnes of others. :D

I always knew she had Brazilian in here, and Irish, but never knew about the Swedish and German.

Brazilian is not a ethnic group or a race it is a nationality. Her mother’s background is probably Portuguese Mestizo(Portuguese,NativeAmerican and possibly black).

I just think that with a surname like Walsh it’s more likely that she is half American-Irish as opposed to half American-English. Walsh (sometimes Walshe) is one of the most common Irish surnames … the only English people with Walsh as a surname would be of Irish descent
