Lucy Liu is an American actress, artist, model, director, and producer. She is famous for her roles in the films Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels, and the television series Ally McBeal. Her parents are Chinese, from Beijing and Shanghai. She stated in an interview, “I speak Chinese, I speak a little bit of Spanish, a tiny bit of Italian, a little bit of Japanese”. She was born under the name Lucy Liu, and added the middle name “Alexis” later in life.

Lucy grew up speaking Mandarin.

Chinese is not an ethnicity, it’s a racial group.

Her parents are from Beijing and Shanghai and emigrated to Taiwan before emigrating to the States. That would make her ethnicity Han Chinese.

She looks japanese, she is a little more exotic than the chinese average because of her skin tone and freckles.

China is a large country. Those to the west of the country would pass as Eurasian and even Middle Eastern.

She might be from the north where people are fairer skinned.

She’s definitely Chinese… most pure Japanese are a little darker and eyes looking slightly different… more almond and less slanted…

Um no her parents were Taiwanese Chinese immigrants to the U.S. Since Lucy was born in Queens, NY that doesn’t directly make her taiwanese unless she was born and held residence in Taiwan.
