Kenny Florian is an American mixed martial artist and commentator. He competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and was a UFC lightweight fighter. He is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, under Roberto Maia of Gracie Barra Boston. He is nicknamed KenFlo.

Kenny is the son of Peruvian immigrants. His father is a thoracic surgeon. His ancestry includes Spanish [including Andalusian] and Basque. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and English. He is married to model and actress Clark Gilmer, with whom he has a daughter.

Kenny is said to have Italian, German, French, and Armenian ancestry. It is not clear if these lineages have been verified/documented.

Kenny’s paternal grandfather was Agustin M. Florian Terrones (the son of Carlos Florian and Pascuala Terrones). Agustin was born in San Pedro de Lloc, Peru.

Kenny’s paternal grandmother was Rosa Adelina Gavilano Herold (the daughter of Julio Gavilano Toledo and Teresa Herold/Herald/Herolde). Rosa was born in Chiclayo, Peru. Julio was born in Ica, Peru, the son of Pedro Gavilano and Tereza Toledo. Kenny’s great-grandmother Teresa was born in Chiclayo, the daughter of Luis Herolde and Teresa Noriega, both also of Chiclayo.

Kenny’s maternal grandfather was Edgardo Victoriano de las Mercedes Castro Agusti (the son of Cornelio Miguel Castro Escuza and Herminia Leonor Agusti Cabada). Edgardo was born in Trujillo, Peru. Cornelio had some Andalusian and Basque ancestry, and was the son of Cornelio Ramon de Castro Zaldivar and Maria Mercedes Escuza Valcayo. Herminia also had some Basque ancestry, and was the daughter of Ramon Victorino Agusti Llaurado and Maria del Carmen Amanda Cabada Escuza.

Kenny’s maternal grandmother was Georgina Baca Vera (the daughter of Victor Baca and Sofia Vera). Georgina was born in Chiclayo, Peru.
