I consider myself black, although technically my mother is half-Chinese and half-Puerto Rican. My father is black.
Her name Kelis is a combination of her parents’ names, Kenneth and Iveliss. Her mother is a fashion designer and her father was a professor, jazz musician, and Pentecostal minister.
Kelis was married to photographer Mike Mora, until his death. She has a son with her former husband, recording artist, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur Nas; and two children with Mike.
Kelis’ maternal family name is Maldonado.

And I hate when “white” people deny that they have African ancestry….no. It seems like Johnny Depp is the only one who’s proud of ALL of his heritage.

i hate it when white people think they have all the authority to tell others what they are, in the Jim Crow days, you just had to have “one drop” of black blood to be black, now, its a different story. If Mariah feels black, she is effin’ black, leave her alone!
Black men get around & sleep with ALL kinds of women , white,black,Asian,Hispanic. That’s why to this day especially now in the 21st century there all so many people that are of mixed race. A Majority are half black !
Actually the Eurasian population is growing now. There’s so many half Asians where I live. Only a few mulattoes.

I actually went to H.S. with her and I don’t care what the hell you are mixed with, a bad attitude makes you UGLY. Period. She was snooty then and I can see she is still snooty now. I find that African blood is more dominant than Asian blood and Asian blood more so than Caucasian blood. Non are superior or inferior then the next but you can see it in celebs like Amerie (Asian and Black) and Kate Gosselin’s kids.
