The American Def Jam signed singer is of Dominican and Armenian descent. She stated on an interview on djbooth.net that her first language is Russian and that she can sing in multiple languages including, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, English, Spanish, Italian and French. She learned to sing in these language while living in a multicultural neighborhood in New York.

Many sites including Wikipedia state that Pasian is half Armenian. This would explain why she speaks Russian, as Armenia was under Soviet rule until 1991.

She is sometimes compared to Alicia Keys who also has mixed heritage and because they both play the piano. To me she resembles Raven Symoné who is African American.
