She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Bernstein) and Melvin Lester Taymor.

Julie’s paternal grandfather was named Aaron/Orel Taymor (the son of Kopel Leibov Teitelbaum). Aaron was a Polish Jewish immigrant.

Julie’s paternal grandmother was Emma B. Madfis (the daughter of Jacob Madfis and Dora Tina Bilick). Emma was a Ukrainian Jewish immigrant.
