Julia Stiles is an American actress. Her roles include the films Wicked, 10 Things I Hate About You, Down to You, State and Main, Save the Last Dance, O, The Business of Strangers, The Bourne Identity, Mona Lisa Smile, The Prince & Me, Silver Linings Playbook, Out of the Dark, Hustlers, and Orphan: First Kill, and the shows Dexter, Blue, Riviera, and The Lake.

She is the daughter of Judith Newcomb Stiles and John O’Hara. She is married to camera assistant Preston J. Cook, with whom she has three children.

Julia is sometimes described in internet, and other, sources, as having Italian ancestry on her mother’s side. It is fairly certain that Julia’s mother is not of Italian descent. It is not clear if Julia has any Italian ancestry on her father’s side.

Julia’s paternal grandfather was named John Joseph O’Hara. John was born in New York.

Julia’s paternal grandmother was Ethel Harriette/Harriet Kayser (the daughter of Charles Christian Kayser, Jr. and Catharine Mary Joseph Barrett). Ethel was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Charles was the son of German emigrants, Carl/Charles Christian/Christ Kayser/Kaiser, from Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, and Elizabetha/Elizabeth/Elisabetha Schaefer, from Evangelisch, Bavaria. Catharine was the daughter of Irish emigrants, William Barrett and Catherine/Katie McCarthy.

Julia’s maternal grandfather was Meredith Newcomb Stiles, Jr. (the son of Meredith Newcomb Stiles and Katherine Elizabeth Toof). Julia’s grandfather Meredith was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to American parents, of Colonial American (English) ancestry. Julia’s great-grandfather Meredith was a journalist, and was the son of William Curtis Stiles and Mary Allen Arey Newcomb. Katherine was the daughter of Franklin Pierce Toof and Mary Isabelle White.

Julia’s maternal grandmother was Ruth “Randy” Hunsaker (the daughter of Albert Hunsaker and Dorothea/Dorothy E. Deroner). Ruth was born in New York, and had German and English ancestry. The Hunsaker and Deroner families in Pennsylvania originate in Germany. Ruth’s parents, as well as her maternal grandparents, William E. Deroner and Katie E. Seagreaves, were all born in Pennsylvania. William’s parents were Moses U. Deroner and Amanda Fink. Katie’s parents were William Hamilton Seagreaves and Annie E. Weaver.

  1. Katie says:

    she looks incredibly mongolion influenced.

  2. Jo says:

She looks like she’s got some Asian in her.

    • averagejoe says:

      I thought the same thing!

      • nathalie says:

Really? I can’t really tell .. I’m a bit slow. Could someone point out it to me?

        • Katie says:

epicanthic fold/no eye lids, low nose bridge, very wide face, high cheekbones all characteristic of uralic/siberian/mongolian/asian descent.

          • reiver says:

Cool. I’ve never noticed that about her eyes before. But I’m thrilled that you’ve pointed it out, because I’ve got eyes like her- you can only see my eyelids if they are closed. I’m of Scottish, Irish and English ancestry, but my eyes are from my mum, who is 3/4 Irish, 1/4 Scottish, so maybe it’s an Irish thing.

  3. Natasha says:

    She looks pretty.

  4. dfnjfj. says:

I actually thought she was German and Italian, guess I was wrong. I still think she looks German. I don’t think she is native though.

    • Robert says:

I don’t know where all of these other comments about her having Mongolian, Amerindian, or whatever… but based on phenotype alone, I suspected she was German, Czech or some other West Slavic descent… possibly even Hungarian.

  5. Mary says:

No comments yet? O_O? She has a very interesting face.

I bet she has some Native American in her, and she doesn’t want to admit it. I resemble a LOT to her, her eyes, skin colour, and I know that I’m at least half Native, probably a bit Italian too.

    • ethnic says:

      hmm you think so?

      • lalalala says:

hmm… why would anyone be ashamed of being native? I’m sure if she knew she had some native blood in her she’d share it (like megan fox and angelina jolie… who both falsely say they’re NA anyway…)

my cousin is 100% irish and kind of looks partially mongolian, maybe more inuit (high & prominent cheekbones, almond shaped eyes, teeth, etc). the cheekbones are common in my family, but, the rest of her look isn’t. sometimes people just randomly inherit ancient genes not seen for generations.

    • SparkleTime says:

I highly doubt it. Half of Hollywood claims to have a Native ancestor. They even falsely claim it (Angelina Jolie). So, I am sure she would have no problem admitting she has a Native ancestor if she does, in fact, have one. It could be very distant, and thus, she would not even know she has one, or she just really does not have one at all.
