He also has remote Galician ancestry.

Fausta’s maternal great-great-grandmother, Bonifacia de San Antolín, born in 1733 in Valladolid, was a foundling. She was sent into an orphanage, and took the family name “de San Antolín”.

CORRECTION FOR HIS MATERNAL GRANDFATHER: José’s maternal grandfather was Faustino Valentín Zapatero Ballesteros (the son of Emilio Zapatero González and Elisa Ballesteros Suárez). Emilio was the son of Agapito Zapatero García and Fausta González de Prado. Elisa was the daughter of Valentín Ballesteros and Rosa Suárez.

Also, his Spanish ancestry also has Leonese ancestry.

He is widely known simply as José Zapatero. José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is his full name.

Never heard anyone calling him José Zapatero, neither in politics nor in press. Presidents in Spain are known by their full name or by their last name (Suarez, Rajoy, etc.).
