John Galliano is a British-Spanish fashion designer. He has been creative director of his label John Galliano, and of French-based fashion houses Givenchy, Dior, and Maison Margiela.

He was born on Gibraltar, the son of Anita and Juan Galliano, a plumber. His father was Gibraltarian, and had Italian and Spanish ancestry. His mother was from La Línea de La Concepción, Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. He moved to England with his family at the age of six, living in Streatham, and Dulwich and Brockley in South London. John was raised Catholic.

John’s paternal grandfather was Alejandro/Alexander Galliano (the son of Cayetano Galliano and Antonia Gonzales). Alejandro was born on Gibraltar. Cayetano was born on Gibraltar, the son of Nicolas Galliano, whose parents were from Sampierdarena, Genoa, Liguria, Italy; and of Maria Catalina Josefa Ceruti, whose parents were from Varazze, province of Savona, also in Liguria. John’s great-grandmother Antonia was born on Gibraltar, the daughter of John Gonzales and Victoria Altamira.

John’s paternal grandmother was Matilde Bosano/Bossano (the daughter of Juan Bosano and Librada Murien/Muriel). Matilde was born on Gibraltar. Juan was born on Gibraltar, the son of Augustin Bosano, who was of Italian and Spanish descent; and of Magdalena Pons, whose ancestors were from the Balearic Islands.     he has an Italiano surname because there’ s a sizeable community of emigrants from Genoa (Liguria) in Gibraltar since the 1500s, hence the reason

      On his paternal “Galliano” line he definitely has an Italian ancestor somewhere further back. He might have distant Sephardi Jewish ancestry, I dunno.
