The professional wrestler has released a rap album called You Can’t See Me, and has appeared on the movie The Marine. According to a few websites it is claimed that the WWE star has Albanian ethnicity while some others believe he is of Italian origin.

A good article on associatedcontent.com states that Cena is from an Italian American family. It is possible that Cena is Arbereshe, an ethnic Albanian group that moved to Southern Italy and Sicily from the 1500s. It is said that these people moved out of Albania to escape the Ottoman invasion. Although they often adopted Italian names, these people are proud of their Albanian roots and retain their Arbereshe language.

His mother was born Carol Lupien. Her father, Tony Lupien, was a baseball player whose parents were French-Canadian. His wife (John’s maternal grandmother), was named Natalie Nichols, an English last name.
