Johann Schneider-Ammann is a Swiss businessperson and politician. He has been President of Switzerland, from 1 January, 2016 to 31 December, 2016, as well as, a Member of the Swiss Federal Council, and Head of the Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, both, from 1 November, 2010 to 31 December, 2018, and Vice President of Switzerland, from 1 January, 2015 to 31 December, 2015.

His parents, Elisabeth (Hofmann) and Ernst Schneider, were veterinarians. His family has run the mechanical engineering Ammann Group for four generations. He is married to Katharina Ammann, and has two children.
