Jim Carrey is a Canadian and American actor, comedian, impressionist, screenwriter, producer, and painter.

Jim is the son of Katherine/Kathleen (Oram) and Percy Carrey. His family’s surname, Carrey, was changed from Carré before Jim was born. Jim’s father was of French-Canadian ancestry, along with distant English roots. Jim stated on Inside the Actors Studio (2011) that his mother had French, Irish, and Scottish ancestry.

Jim has a daughter with his former wife, actress Melissa Womer. He became a U.S. citizen in 2004.

Jim is a fourth cousin of Julie Payette, who is Governor General of Canada. They share great-great-great-grandparents, Francois Carré and Marie Genevieve/Josephe Joly.

Jim’s paternal grandfather was François/Frank Carré (the son of Pierre/Peter Carré Larouche and Mélina Clément Larivière). Pierre was the son of François Carré Larouche and Emilie Labelle. Mélina was the daughter of Isidore Clément Larivière and Suzanne Latulippe Jarret/Joron.

Jim’s paternal grandmother was Angeline/Angelina Sauvé (the daughter of Joseph Samuel Adhélar Sauvé Laplante and Ursule/Ursula Bélanger). Joseph was the son of Etienne Jean Baptiste Sauvé Laplante and Marie Norberine Decoeur. Ursule was the daughter of Nicholas/Nicolas Bélanger and Sophie Charbonneau.

Jim’s maternal grandfather was John Oram (the son of John Oram and Janet Brown). Jim’s grandfather John was born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Jim’s maternal grandmother was Bridget Hannah Rita Sheehan (the daughter of Patrick Sheehan and Catherine O’Hara Brennan). Bridget was born in Toronto, Ontario. Patrick was the son of Patrick Sheehan and Bridget Gleason. Catherine was the daughter of John Francis Brennan and Anna O’Hara.

Correction he has English on his dad’s side as well. On his father’s mother’s line he has a line that includes a couple from Connecticut and Deerfield, Massachusetts who were taken to Quebec in an Indian attack in 1704.

i also think that Carrey is part English, i remember reading it in a BMX mag, and one of the riders was related to him, and said he has family in Leeds.
