Jerry Siegel was an American comic book writer. Along with Joe Shuster, he created the DC Comics superhero Superman (Clark Kent). He was also known as Joe Carter and Jerry Ess.

Jerry was the son of Sarah (Fein/Fine) and Mitchell Siegel (born Mikhel Segalovich). His parents were Lithuanian Jewish immigrants. He was married to model Joanne Siegel, until his death. He had a son with his former wife Bella Lifshitz, and a daughter with Joanne.

Jerry’s paternal grandfather was named Nathan Siegel.

Jerry’s maternal grandparents were named Myer Fein/Fine and Lillie.
