Birth Name: Jamie Trevor Oliver

Place of Birth: Thurrock, Essex, England, U.K.

Date of Birth: 27 May, 1975

Ethnicity: English, as well as 1/16th Cornish

Jamie Oliver is an English chef and restaurateur.

He is the son of Sally and Trevor Kenneth Oliver. He is married to Juliette Norton, with whom he has five children.

After exploring his family history, Jamie said:

It turns out I’m sixth-generation Sudanese. We only found out about it when my grandfather’s brother died but, as it happens, there are quite a few Olivers who are a bit swarthy and have got curly hair, so I suppose that may explain it.

However, genealogists have dismissed this and concluded that there is little to no chance that Jamie is of Sudanese descent. Jamie’s great-great-grandfather, John Oliver, was a seaman who sailed the waters of the East African Coast and the Indian Ocean, which might explain the origin of the family legend.

Jamie’s paternal grandfather was Kenneth Edward Oliver (the son of George Oliver and Ethel R. Spice). Kenneth was born in Epping, Essex. George was the son of John Oliver and Mary Alice Coombs; John’s parents were from Penzance, Cornwall.

Jamie’s paternal grandmother was named Hazel J. Brown.
