Jack Markell is an American politician. A Democrat, he served as Governor of Delaware, from January 20, 2009 to January 17, 2017. He was previously Treasurer of Delaware, from January 16, 1999 to January 20, 2009, and Chairperson of the National Governors Association, from July 15, 2012 to August 4, 2013.
Jack is the son of Elaine and William Markell. He is married to Carla Smathers, with whom he has two children.
