Gordon MacRae was an American actor, singer, and radio and television host. His films include On Moonlight Bay, By The Light of the Silvery Moon, Oklahoma!, Carousel, The Best Things in Life Are Free, and Zero to Sixty.

Gordon was the son of Helen and William MacRae. He was married to Elizabeth Lambert Schrafft, until his death; He had four children with his former wife, English-American actress, singer, and dancer Sheila MacRae; and a daughter with Elizabeth.

Gordon’s paternal grandfather was Mungo Lamont MacRae (the son of William MacRae and Mary Ann McGavin). Mungo was an Scottish emigrant, from Eaglesham, Renfrewshire. Mary Ann was the daughter of George McGavin and Margaret Grant.

Gordon’s paternal grandmother was named Janette Hunter Semple. Janette was a Scottish immigrant.

Gordon’s maternal grandfather was Albert Hermann Sonn (the son of John Christopher Sonn and Ernestine Müller). Albert was born in New Jersey, to German parents. John was born in Köngen, Württemberg. John was the son of Johann Christoph Sonn and Sabina Catharina Fuß. Ernestine was the daughter of Johann Georg Müller and Margaretha Justina Benkert.

Gordon’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ahbe (the daughter of Johan Christian Ahbe and Christina Wolfgram). Elizabeth was born in New Jersey, to German parents. Johan was the son of Johann Heinrich Ahbe and Margaretha Elisabeth Deussing.
