She was the daughter of Wilhelmina “Minnie” and Charles A. Farrell. Her father was born in Kansas, to Irish parents. Her mother was born in Iowa, to German parents. Glenda was married to surgeon Henry Ross, until her death. She had a son, actor Tommy Farrell, with her former husband, film editor Thomas Richards.
