Gabby Douglas is an American artistic gymnast. She was the 2012 Olympic all around champion, and the 2015 World all-around silver medalist, and was a member of the gold-winning teams at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, and the gold-winning teams at the 2011 and the 2015 World Championships. She is the first African-American to become the Olympic individual all-around champion. She is nicknamed Gabby, and part of the “Fierce Five” and “Final Five.”

Gabby is the daughter of Natalie Hawkins and Timothy Douglas. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa, during her teen years.

Gabby’s maternal grandfather is the son of Theodore Frank Hawkins and Yniska Josephine Carter. Yniska was the daughter of Frank Carter and Edna.
