Adam Yauch better known as MCA, was a member of the band The Beastie Boys. He was born to a Jewish mother named Frances and a Catholic father named Noel Yauch.

Despite being born to a Jewish mother, he converted to Tibetan Buddhism and started the Milarepa Fund, a non-profit organization seeking an independent Tibet.

MCA founded The Beastie Boys with his high school friend Mike D, playing the bass and vocals. He later developed his lyrical skills as the trio moved towards a more hip hop sound.

MCA is survived by Tibetan wife Dechen Wangdu and his son Tenzin.

Seau died at a young age of 43 on May 2 2012 due to a suspected self inflicted gun wound.
