this is so weird, if any of us want 2 really concentrate on what these peoples backgrounds are why don’t we ask them. oops!!! we don’t know them personally……… so what does it matter. we are all somebody, i myself by nationality mixed-race, but my race is black. im no different than any of u. so lets stop going for each others throats and just enjoy this womans gift of song and not concentrate on her color. because really it’s none of our biz. folks are gonna see what they wanna see, so what is the use in arguing????? huh

uhhh not again!! cuba is just a place people from cuba are called cubans. ok now that we understand this race is inherited (i address this because this point is being missed) if both of your parents are white but ur born in china ur white. u wuld only be called chinese because thats ur nationality. ur race is white. just like we all here (sorry if ur not) are american but we are different races. u ppl are mixing up race and nationality. the difference may be small but its important. please stop being ignorant get informed use the internet to help u make an informed and educated comment not just one u pulled out of thin air.

What is it with african americans in this country constantly trying to put people in these little boxes and saying pick one side but you better not pick the other. Can someone please tell me how her being mixed or not affects you personally.Last time i checked we all learned our crayola colors in grade school therefore the tone of her skin is brown! Yes there are lots of people who look like her that have dominican, cuban, brazillian etc. Due to the slave trade go to the library and look it up!

Being half Cuban doesn’t necessarily make her mixed. Unless you consider being mixed based on ethnicity or nationality and not race. Most Cubans are black! Many are 100% black or mostly black. Many are mixed with spanish and/or Indian. Matter of fact it makes little sense to say someone is African American and Cuban or Black and Cuban. You’re comparing apples and oranges. One is a country or nationality and the other a race or ethnicity. I think many people on this page do not know that Cuba is about 67-75% Black, with the remaining being mixed, or white and a very small minority of Asians. Most Cuban Americans are white, the vast majority of Cubans on the island are Black. Try visiting the island, it is one of the most African places you can go to outside of Africa. African dialects are still spoken, and African dances, clothing, and religions still utilized. Just look up Afro Cubans on youtube, that is a start, please don’t read wikipedia as much of it is made up.

And having dark skin doesn’t mean you are 100% black just like having light skin doesn’t mean you are mixed. I think this site is just further confusing people who were already mixed up to begin with.

p.s. Most Blacks in the Western Hemisphere live south of the U.S. border. Matter of fact-95% of slaves went to Latin America and the Carribean.
