Ennio Morricone was an Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, and trumpet player. He wrote music for more than 500 motion pictures and television series. He was also known as Maestro, Dan Savio, and Leo Nichols.

Ennio was the son of Libera (Ridolfi) and Mario Morricone, a musician. His family came from Arpino, province of Frosinone, Italy.

Ennio was married to lyricist Maria Travia, until his death, with whom he had four children, including composer and conductor Andrea Morricone and filmmaker Giovanni Morricone.

Ennio’s paternal grandfather was named Luigi Morricone.

Ennio’s paternal grandmother was named Clementina Mortale.

Ennio’s maternal grandfather was named Enrico Ridolfi.

Ennio’s maternal grandmother was surnamed Mancini.
