He is the son of Jean-Claude Skrela, a French-born rugby union player and coach of the France national team. His sister, Gaëlle Skrela, is a professional basketball player. She played for the France national team at the international level. David is married to Celine, with whom he has two children.
David’s paternal grandparents were Polish refugees. They were from the villages of Kobiela and Charbinowice, respectively.
