David Koepp is an American screenwriter and film director, who has been a prolific writer of Hollywood blockbusters for several decades. He has directed the films The Trigger Effect, Stir of Echoes, Secret Window, Ghost Town (2008), Premium Rush, Mortdecai, and You Should Have Left. He wrote the first three films, and the seventh, and co-wrote the fourth and fifth. He has also written the films Bad Influence, Carlito’s Way, The Shadow, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Snake Eyes (1998), Panic Room, Spider-Man (2002), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Inferno (2016), and Kimi, and co-written the films Apartment Zero, Why Me?, I Come in Peace, Toy Soldiers, Death Becomes Her, Jurassic Park, The Paper (1994), Mission: Impossible (1996), War of the Worlds (2005), Zathura: A Space Adventure, Angels & Demons, The Little Engine That Could, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and The Mummy (2017). He created and co-wrote on the show Hack (2002). He has also been billed as Leonard Maas, Jr.

David is the son of Margaret, a therapist, and Donald Koepp, who owned a billboard company. His brother is journalist, editor, and entrepreneur Stephen Koepp, with whom he co-wrote The Paper. He is married to writer Melissa Thomas, and has four children.

David’s paternal grandfather was Harry J. Koepp (the son of Herman Koepp and Ann/Anna/Anne Rohan). Harry was born in Wisconsin. Herman was born in Wisconsin, to German parents, Herman Koepp and Minna Schroeder. Ann was the daughter of Irish parents, James Rohan and Bridget Considine/Consadine.

David’s paternal grandmother was Hazel K. Nee (the daughter of Michael Nee and Margaret/Mary Elizabeth Walsh). Michael was born in New York, to Irish parents, Coleman Nee and Julia Hanrihan. Margaret was born in Wisconsin, to Irish parents, Martin Walsh and Catherine Joyce.

David’s maternal grandfather was Leonard Fairfield (the son of Frank J. Fairfield and Agnes O’Brien). Leonard was born in Illinois. Frank was born in Surrey, London, England, to English parents, Frederick Charles Fairfield and Mary Rebecca Burroughs. Agnes was born in Illinois, to Irish parents, Patrick O’Brien and Catherine Kent.

David’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Mary Noonan (the daughter of William Noonan and Margaret Wilkinson). David’s grandmother Margaret was born in Ballymoe, County Galway, Ireland.
