Daniel Murphy is an American professional baseball player. He is a second baseman and first baseman in the Los Angeles Angels organization of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played for the New York Mets, the Washington Nationals, the Chicago Cubs, and the Colorado Rockies.

His brother, Jonathan, has also played professional baseball. Daniel is married to Victoria “Tori” Ahern, with whom he has three children. Daniel is a devout Christian.

Daniel’s maternal grandfather was named Darrell Brown.

Daniel’s maternal grandmother was named Patricia “Pat” Short (the daughter of Harold Short and Mildred). Patricia was born in Kentucky.
