Dan Smith is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is a member of indie rock band Bastille, in which he primarily sings, and also plays the keyboard/piano and percussion. The other members of the band are Will Farquarson, Kyle Simmons, and Chris “Woody” Wood.

Dan is the son of South African lawyers. His parents were born in Kokstad and grew up in Durban, South Africa. His mother’s surname, Corrigall, is Scottish, and is prominent in South Africa. White South Africans often have some degree of Dutch ancestry as well.
