Clint Mauro

Date of Birth: c. 1986

Ethnicity:
*50% Italian
*25% Hungarian
*12.5% Belgian [Flemish]
*12.5% likely German

Clint Mauro is an American model, actor, and writer. He is famous for representing Armani Exchange underwear. His father is of half Italian and half Hungarian descent. His mother is of half Italian, one quarter Belgian (Flemish), and likely one quarter German, ancestry.

Clint’s paternal grandfather was Anthony C. Mauro (the son of Joseph Mauro and Clara Saruicata). Anthony was born in Indiana, to Italian parents, from Capaccio, Province of Salerno, Campania.

Clint’s paternal grandmother was Gizella Theresa Szalay (the daughter of Julius M. Szalay and Gizella T. Abraham). Clint’s great-grandparents Julius and Gizella were Hungarian. Julius was born in Fertoszentmiklos, the son of Mike Szalay and Teresa Kocsics. Clint’s great-grandmother Gizella was the daughter of Alex Abraham and Anna Kocsics.

Clint’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Calderone (the son of Rocco Calderone and Philomena Paiano). Joseph was Italian, born in Oppido Mamertina, Reggio Calabria. Philomena was born in Tresilico, Calabria, Italy, and was the daughter of Joseph Paiano and Francesca.

Clint’s maternal grandmother was Betty Lou Soens (the daughter of Arthur Soens and Margaret Josephine Mann). Arthur’s parents were Belgian, with Flemish ancestry. Margaret was likely of German descent.

Stacie is only a quarter? Really? O_O But she looks so Italian. What are her other ancestries?

I know what you mean about moderation. A lot of my comments get stuck in moderation as well.

    • levangelista36 says:

I can’t believe Stacie is only a 1/4th. She looks so Italian. LOL. So does Stephen Colletti.

Ah, so John Turturro’s family is like Al Pacino’s. Al’s dad was Italian-American, but his mom was a Sicilian immigrant.

Do you know anything about Theo Rossi, the guy from Sons of Anarchy? They say he’s Italian, but I doubt he’s full.

    • levangelista36 says:

What about Ray Romano, Martin Scorsese (?), and Mira Sorvino?

I guess people assume that the dark ones are fully Italian because they are dark. Like John Cazale, Ralph Macchio, Stacie Orrico, and Stephen Colletti, but a lot of them are turning out not to be.

    • levangelista36 says:

I have also wondered if Alyssa Milano is fully Italian.

  2. levangelista36 says:

Are you serious? Are there any others we should know about? Is the Coppola family fully Italian?

  3. levangelista36 says:

Fredo’s legal name is John Holland Cazale. You know, it’s strange how a lot of Italian-Americans choose to identify as solely Italian. For example, I had no idea Robert De Niro was only a 1/4th until I read about his family history. How do their mothers feel about that?

Well, with names, dates, and such, all we really know is that Frank Zappa is definitely Italian. His biography says his grandmom, Theresa, has some French ancestry, but I don’t know the names of his great-grandparents, so that’s that. Haha. I love Frank Zappa.

    • levangelista36 says:

She probably didn’t care. I’m a bit shocked to find out that so many of these Italian actors are mixed, though. Can you please check to see if John Turturro is fully Italian?

  4. follers says:

Ah, found an obituary of his maternal grandmother.

His maternal grandfather was named Joseph Calderone and his maternal grandmother was born Betty L. Soens, daughter of Josephine and Arthur Soens. Based on these surnames, it would appear that Clint’s mother is of Italian and German descent.

So, his father is half Italian and half Hungarian, and his mother has Italian and German ancestry.

    • levangelista36 says:

So he should be a half Italian, a quarter Hungarian, and a quarter German if his mama has no other ancestry besides Italian and German?

      • follers says:

Ah, there is a tree of Joseph Calderone on Ancestry.com. His parents, Filomena (Philomena) Paiano and Rocco Calderone, were both Italian. So there you go, Clint is 50% Italian through both grandfathers.

        • levangelista36 says:

Yes. I thought Clint might be of something else other than Italian. He’s American after all.

          • levangelista36 says:

            90%? Jesus.

          • levangelista36 says:

            Hayden is 50%.

DJ Pauly D is supposedly a 100%, but there are rumors that his mom is Portuguese, and I think he might’ve been born before 1980, but I’m not too sure.

Samantha Giancola is half Italian and half Greek.

Vinny from Jersey Shore has said he is 100% Italian and so has The Situation.

That’s all I can think of.

Oh wait, Gia Mantegna, Joe Mantegna’s daughter, is 50% Italian and 50% Czech, I believe. She was born 1990.

I can’t think of any who are full-blooded.

        • levangelista36 says:

The new Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, is 75% Italian. Her dad, Peter Culpo, is 100%. Her mom, Susan Curran, is 50% Italian and 50% Irish.

Ooooh, I think I might know one.

Stacie Orrico! I think she is 100%.

          • levangelista36 says:

I heard a rumor about Stacie being half German. I guess it’s true. Haha.

Hayden’s dad might not be 100% Italian. You should check up on that.

I guess Lea Michele is the most prominent actress born after 1980 with at least one parent that is full-blooded Italian. I can’t think of any others besides Hayden.

            Oh, I think Rachel Bilson’s mom, Janice Santiago (?), is a 100%. Maybe . . .

You should check up on Nikki Reed, too.

          • levangelista36 says:

So, Jewish people’s intermarriage rates are around 50%, while Italian people’s intermarriage rates are around 90%.

So what about other white Americans? I mean, the ones who are not of Italian or Jewish background. Is it like a 100%? LOL. Because I can’t think of a single one who is full-blooded anything if we exclude Italians and Jews.

          • levangelista36 says:

I highly doubt the intermarriage rate for Irish descendants in the U.S. is lower than that of Italians.

          • levangelista36 says:

This is slightly off topic, but I read that Brittany Murphy’s dad, Angelo Bartoletti (?), was a mobster.

            O_O

I might have messed up on her real last name, but I wonder why she decided to switch to Murphy when she got famous.

          • levangelista36 says:

It seems like Jewish people keep it together more than other white people. Because most of the white people I can think of that are of one ethnicity are Jewish. I can think of many Italians as well, but most of the ones who I am thinking of are older now and have spouses that are not of the same ethnicity as them.

          • levangelista36 says:

For example, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, John Turturro, Marisa Tomei, Joe Mantegna, Sophia Loren, Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano, Dean Martin, John Cazale, Ralph Macchio, etc. I know they are full Italian, but they’re offspring is most likely not.

Then, I know of a lot of ones like Frank Zappa. His dad was a Sicilian immigrant, while his mom was an American of Italian and French heritage.

          • levangelista36 says:

Really? I thought John Cazale was just Italian for some reason. He looks very Italian. I had no idea his mom was Irish. Haha. R.I.P. Fredo Corleone <3

Frank Zappa's mom supposedly had French ancestry. That's what's been claimed, but I don't think Frank ever said that himself. He's only ever mentioned being Italian.

          • levangelista36 says:

            http://i50.tinypic.com/s1rkpl.png

These are from Frank Zappa’s biography.

His dad, Francis Vincent Zappa, was a Sicilian immigrant.

His mom, Rose Colimore, was a first-generation Italian-American, BUT her mom, Theresa, was of French and Italian ancestry even though she was born in Italy. So his mom does have French ancestry, although she is mostly Italian.

  5. follers says:

His paternal grandfather, Anthony Mauro, was the son of Italian immigrants. His paternal grandmother was born Gizella Szalay. According to the U.S. Census, 1930, all of Gizella’s grandparents were Hungarian.

His mother is name Rose – I’m not sure what her background is. But Clint is 1/4 Italian and 1/4 Hungarian.
