It is obviously she isn’t just black! Look at her hair! She looks black and a lil Spanish! Her daughter is black but she is mixed.

I have been reading a lot of these comments and I find them Hilarious… I am the same exact color as Christina Milian I was born in the U.S. and my parents are from Cuba. If someone asks me what I am I say I am of Cuban decent PERIOD…. and I am sure Christian Milian would say the same thing. Do I consider myself a latina YES because I am!!! So all this talk about trying to make her one or the other is just dumb!!!

Well it says she is AFRO Cuban and the Afro! is there for a reason and so what she is what she is! Also its funny that the Latino’s here are proud that Milan is Latino why don’t they claim the blacks in Latin america. Christina is beautiful women if she was darker with curlier hair big lips I wonder how many Latinos would be proud to call her Latin then

I didn’t really understand your question but yes the black audience would acknowledge if she was even darker and not such a pretty sight e.g. Maya Angelou is not the hottest black chick is she but she has my respect Michelle Obama est. And to be honest she is a artist in the media so she has to be attractive with her job reality

@Dora, the difference is Maya Angelou is recognized as a writer, not an artist. An example of what I mean is this: Leila lopes is a mulatta from Angola who won Miss Universe. Even before she won, black people were saying that she’s 100% African. The problem is, that no black person gave a hoot about the prior 100% black Miss Angolas as evidenced by the facy that there were very few discussions about them, if any.

I went to Cuba in 1996 with a group from my University. When I shared my itenerary with my grandfather (born in Santa Clara 1927 and raised in Havana) there was a notation that we were visiting Atarés “an Afro Cuban neighborhood” and my grandfather laughed and said that all of Cuba is an AfroCuban neighborhood- the music, religion, food, and just over all way of behaving, in particular in Havana is “afro”, regardless of skin color.

White skinned Cubans wear “collares” reflecting their participation in santería, they dance “son”, and play the “tambores”, and walk with “tumbao” (swagger & rhythm- u know, like our president!).

U get the point!

She’s afro cuban i think we can all see a difference between her and Jennifer lopez seriously. I know J-lo is Puerto Rican but it’s the fact that they are both latinas.

christina millian is a beautiful black cuban and the fact that she speaks spanish dosen’t make her a latina

She is from Cuba and she speaks spanish that makes her latina. Her blackness doesn’t cancel it out. Just like how Blacks’ African heritage doesn’t make them not American and whites’ euro heritage doesn’t make them not American. Ethnicity is not a single category almost all of us are a mix.

LATINO isn’t a race, it’ s a culture, an ethnicity. She is BLACK (well she looks more mulatta to me) and LATINA. PERIOD.

Well there are black people in America that dont like being called African American does that mean that none of them like the term no. Alot of just want to be called American! However, we still African descendents stop trying to white wash people, there are also white cubans and Im sure they are proud because a lot of them are racist as hell!

By the way, for anyone who cares. Recently there was an article in the Havana Times interview “Afro Cubans” who many said that they didn’t like the term, they knew very well who they were and that they descended either partially or fully from African Slaves brought to Cuba, but that the term itself made them feel like they were less Cuban than white Cubans, since white Cubans would just be called “Cubans” while they had the hyphen added to them as if they were not as Cuban.

Well they arent, are they? They are descendants of slaves… they should feel lucky to be able to add the hyphen of Cuban. No one would care if they just called themselves African, its always you blacks complaining about race, complaining about this complaining about that, shut up and do something and stop blaming everyone for everything
