She of Irish or Scottish ancestry the Irish and Scottish need to piss of and get their own music culture instead of claiming English people, Lots of English people over hundreds of years back took Welsh Irish and Scottish surnames as their own names considering no ancestry of hers has been traced to anywhere out of England you might as well accept shes English, surname means nothing, if you want to talk about Diaspora you haven’t got a chance Scotland is more English genetically than Scottish, 3/4 of Irish people have some English ancestry to a degree but don’t like to admit it.

She is totally “white”.

Go to Ireland … there are plenty of people with really dark hair and darkest brown eyes that are 100% ethnically Irish – just look at Colin Farrell!

I know that and you know that but you will still get people here saying such and such doesn’t look Irish just because it doesn’t fit with the stereotype Americans have of them.

Question Mark August 14, 2010 at 11:20 am

….substitute the word ”people” with ”americans” above.

I am American, and I have seen so many dark Irish, Welsh, and Scottish people. In fact, my best friend is Irish, and when I first met her, I thought she was Latin American. This assumption that Cheryl is not British because she is “dark” is stupid. Catherine Zeta Jones and Tom Jones are darker than her. So is Gerard Butler, George Clooney, and Sarah Hyland, who is of Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch descent. There are even Germans who are “dark,” and several Eastern Europeans who are “dark” as well.

Anyway, even if she was a Spaniard, a Greek, a Turk, a Italian, or whatever, she would still be white. Not to mention, I have seen darker “white” people than Cheryl, and way more exotic-looking “white” people than Cheryl. Definitely. Many of them of were Brits, too, by the way.

Actually, even if she wasn’t british but WAS from Latin America – she would STILL be WHITE unless she was mixed with Black or Ameri-Indian (natives)

In case you all don’t know, just because you are from a “Spanish speaking” country doesn’t mean you’re automatically of another race.

Latin Americans come in ALL races – black, WHITE (Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Paraguay, Bolivia – the majority of the race there is WHITE), red (native/Ameri-indian), and asian, too (just look at Peru)

STOP FEEDING TO RACIST STEREOTYPES that not ONLY America has built but it’s seem people in Europe use them, too.

I am an American with my family born and raised in Colombia – we are all white… and TAN/OLIVE SKIN isn’t a race; you can be tanned and still be white. My sister has beautiful olive skin and gets very dark in the Summer or when exposed long time in the sun… does that change her race? NO.

God, people are so ignorant.

callaghan is an irish surname and tweedy is of scotish origin.her mom looks as though she may have some asian bloodline ie,arab, iranian, turkish or pakistani.or it could be mediterainian like greek cypriot or southern spanish or even sicillian blood.but i would guess she has more white blood if this is indeed the case.

Adriana June 8, 2010 at 7:53 am

Why does she have to be mixed? Why can’t she be just white?

Awesome or Offensive: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

Hispanic as in Spaniard, means someone from the Iberian Peninsula or it been used to denote the culture and people of countries formerly ruled by Spain, usually with a majority of the population speaking the Spanish language.

If you mean someone from Spain, then no she is still white. Because people from Spain are white (european) and if you want to go far back and say they’re mixed with black ( from hundreds of years ago) well we’re all technically black.

Also if you meant latina, then maybe. But someone can have dark features and be just white. Hello she’s from England! Brown hair brown eyes, or even darker features, are known there.

We need to broaden our horizons in my opinion.

I’m British.. and Hispanic in Britain..? haha something like that don’t exist here neither anywhere else in Europe! even Spaniards themselves don’t call them like that..! they are White..! and most Hispanics are also White it’s just a culture! 77% or 80% or 87% I’m not sure I read it on Wikipedia.. are White..! and real Hispanics are White those others just came from another country..! and yeah people in Europe are White.. ask someone from Europe what is Hispanic.. s/he will say “what? have no idea” yeah I’m too but I know because I’m a fan of Mario Lopez xD.. she is Scottish and Irish.. and White people are the Universal ones that means all hair and eye colours are common and blue and blonde is only possible by Whites.. but most Whites are Brunette and brown eyed, and Mediterranean are also White..! she is White get over it.. you are jealous cause so beautiful ppl are not in your race! DUH

Thank you for explaining this to a bunch of ignorant people. I am American but my family is Colombian and we are all white. We have members in our family who have very light “english rose” type skin to very olive toned skin and there are lights eyes and dark eyes in our family.
I always knew that the term “hispanic” was mainly only used in America
I really do believe that here they are trying to make HISPANIC a race because a lot of politicians are still closeted white supremacists who belong to the KKK and believe that ANYONE who doesn’t have FAIR SKIN is automatically a different race.

And just because I say I’m white doesn’t mean I’m racist. – I’ve gotten that stupid comment before.

I didn’t know people from LATIN AMERICA were all of a sudden a DIFFERENT race.

LATIN AMERICA is NOT a race. Good God.
